IS IT THE RIGHT DECISION. kindly answer me
Hi,
Thank you for your query,
I advise you to meet a good pediatrician to examine the swelling in the neck and to diagnose the problem.
If it is a abscess, it requires incision and drainage and antibiotic are given for 7 to 10 days only.
Antibiotic duration for 6 months is not required unless it is due to tuberculosis.
So diagnosis is important to decide the line of treatment.
Hope I have answered your query.
What did the investigations reveal. We do not normally give antibiotics for such a long duration. There could be other causes for that like a congenital cyst or tuberculosis. Please consult a pediatrician for proper examination and further investigations.
Continue to ask further queries. Hope this helps. Take care. Dr Y V Siva Sankara Murty, M.D. (Pediatrics) Associate Professor of Pediatrics.
