27 Month Old, Loss Of Appetite, Occasional Constipation, Acidity. Consult Specialist?

My 27 month old son is not interested in food. He only eats a little when he is really hungry otherwise he runs away from food. He hates anything sweet including fruits, fruit juices. Feeding him has been always a problem. He was constipated occasionally when he was below two years. But now there is no constipation but he is gassy most of the time. His disinterest in food is due to gas? He was weighing more than his twin sister up to 8 months of age but now he weights four pounds less than his twin sister. Should I consult any specialist? How can I make him eat?

Hi,
Thank you for asking question on health care magic.
Most of the children will have this problem.
they are more interested in play than eating foods.
Appetite is also bit less because their growth velocity decreases during this time.
You should spend more time feeding your son with tender loving care.
Offer food which he is interested, not the foods which you feel they are good for his health,
You may give him some appetiser like cyproheptadine syrup 2 times daily.
Without comparing with his twin sister, see if his weight gain is steady,no weight gain and actually there loss of weight.
If he is not gaining weight or loss of weight you need to see apediatrician.
Hope this answer will serve your purpose
