2 year old having frequent fever, gum blisters and pain in the groin area. Loss of appetite. Testicles not descended. Hand foot mouth disease?
My 2 year old grandson has been having fevers ranging from 100-102.8., white blisters on his gums, pain in his groin area and no appetite for 3 days now. we took him to the hospital yesterday and they said just a viral infection ...sent him home with temp of 101.8. called Doc and she said could be flu even though swab was neg. They told us through the ultrasound, that his testicles haven t dropped so that is what the pain is. today fever has been up all day and Doc cannot figure it out. She now says it is probably Hand Foot Mouth and gave him a shot. Help please...he is soooo sick.

I am sorry to know your grandson is so sick. I think sometimes virals can give real tough time.Now what i am concerned is your grandson has pain in the groin and incidentally the testicle are probably in the abdomen or in the inguinal canal .Sometimes when they are not in the right place we need to get them in the rigfht place by operating on them and i think its high time we attend to this issue.2ndly if he is actually suffering from Hand Foot Mouth disease then i think he is going to have probs while eating because of the blisters in the mouth which can be very painful.What you can try doing is offer him bland food or sweet food or slightly cold juices .However in the end i would definitly advise you to fix up an appointment with the pediatrician for assessing him again.
