2 stents after 1st heart attack, 2 more stents after 2nd attack. Best advice ?
Hi , I had my first heart attack in 2005 and came out of it with 2 stent . A year later, one of the blocks which my cardiologist did not clear it caused a block. I went in and one more stent was inserted. Now I had another attack [ 16Feb. 2012]. 2 more stent has been inserted. I do not understand why my cardiologist did not go for a by pass but insert another 2 stent. Please give me your best advice. Rgds
Hi, Thanks for using HCM.
Stenting is usually done when blocks involve over 50% of lumen in a major vessel.
Bypass is advisable for patients with multi vessel disease with 90-100% blocks or when it is anatomically difficult to negotiate a stent.
