16 Month Baby, Swollen Bleeding Gums, Fever. Getting Molars. Prescribed Mixture Of Maalox, Loratadine. Right Treatment?
Hi, my 16 month old baby has swollen bleeding gums, she had high fever for 3 days and at first i though that the reason was that she´s getting her mollars, after a phone consult with her peditrician I`ve been treating her with a mixture of maalox and loratadine twice a day and rubbing with a ball of cotton her gums with gencivol compuesto, what do you think about that? it`s the right treatment? thank you very much!
It may be due to teething. Teething is usually associated with pain and swelling. As it is a inflammatory process, it is very prone for bleeding even if you exert a mild pressure on gums.
Mild fever is also common. So you do not need to worry.
You have to worry about this only if your baby have high fever, bleeding spots in other areas, blood in cough or vomitus or any fits.
I advice you just give some NSAIDS syrup like paracetamol syrup.
Do not use any toothbrush to clean her mouth as it may increase her inflammation. Just use gauze swab soaked in warm water. Also give soft food for some days. As hard and solid food may aggravate bleeding.
