hi there, as you rightly suggested your breathlessness, weakness and feeling faint could be due to iron deficiency anemia. You could start with taking iron supplements in your diet and also including foods like meat, green leafy vegetables, citrous fruits, dates etc in your diet. Get your anemia profile done which will include your serum transferrin, serum ferritine done. Also get a peripheral smear study of your blood done to know the morphology of the red cells which can also give an idication as to the cause of anemia. Get your stool examined for ova ,cysts or ocult blood. Do get a thorough work up dine for your anemia and if your Hb levels are very low then you could also consider injectable iron therapy depending on your physician's decision. Take care.

Hi,

Thank you for your query.

Iron deficiency anaemia can give vague symptoms as described by you. However the symptoms will appear if the anaemia is severe, say Hb around 5-7 g%. If your haemoglobin is above this level then you need to consult a doctor to rule out other causes for the symptoms.

You mentioned that you have a broken nose for which rhinoplasty shall be done when you are around 18 yrs. of age. The broken nose should not cause major breathing problems. If you are having breathing problems as breathlessness then there should be some other reason for it.

I hope I have answered your query to your satisfaction.

Wishing you all the best.

Regards,

RKK
