15 Year Old Suffering From Anxiety. Fluctuating Heart Rate. Should Be Concerned?

Hi My daughter is 15 years old. 5 9 and she weighs about 143 lbs. She also suffers from anxiety . When she wakes up in the morning her heart rate is 60 beats/min. When she sits up in bed it goes to about 81. Then when she stands up it goes to about 130 beats/min. After she breathes in deeply a couple of times it starts to slow down. After 5 min at most it goes back to normal. Is this something to be concerned about?

Pediatrician 's  Response
Hi,
Thank you for your query,
Your child seems to have Anxiety Neurosis which is common in adlescent girls.
Because of anxiety heart rate will increase, because of increased syphathetic outflow associated with anxiety and during sleep and in quiet periods the heart rate will be low corresponding to her base level of heartbeat.
Evaluation for hyperthyroidism is important as it will present with similar complaints.
She requires counselling and anxiolytic medications like alprazolam ,so consult your Pediatrician or child psychiatrist for further management.
Hope i have answered your query.
