15 Year Old, Having Excessive Sweating. Symptom Of Overactive Sweat Gland? Treatment?
My son is 15.5 years old. He is one to sweat a lot. Seems he is having problems in the bottom area too. When he wears tan pants he sweats so much you can see it through his pants/shorts. It is becoming embarrassing to him. I suggested baby powder. Is there anything else to use and is this a symptom of an overactive sweat glands? sorry thought this was a free service. If I am paying for an answer I will take him to his regular doctor where my insurance can be used.
Hello, Welcome to healthcare magic. Excessive sweating or hyperhidrosis can be a manifestation of hyperthyroidism and diabetes. Kindly get his blood sugars and thyroid function tests done. If the sweating occurs only during times of stress or anxiety then he needs a psychiatry evaluation. If he sweats excessively even without any stress or anxiety and if the thyroid and sugar test is normal, I will recommend him to apply aluminium chlorohydrate solution 20% over under arms and inner thighs, basically areas where sweating is maximum twice a day. This is basically an anti perspirant. You can take the help of your pharmacist for procuring this. Hope this helped. Take care
