12 Year Kid, Sore Throat, Fever, Red Spots On Palm, Scabbing On Scalp. Suggestions?

On Wednesday my 12 year old son was feeling bad with sore throat and fever. He has since broken out with red spots on on his palms an tops of his feet. He also has scabbing on his scalp which has spread seriously over the past 2 days. His fever is gone now but sometimes runs at a low grade throughout the day
Any ideas ?

Aloha. This may be any one of the various causes of fever and rash - most of which are viral illnesses, but in your son's case, it seems to be group A streptococcal fever. There is a need to treat the cause with penicillin or erythromycin if he is allergic to penicillin. The scalp problem does not fit in exactly, but it might be an unusual manifestation of this bug. Do take him to a dermatologist for better counselling or treatment.
