Pediatrician 's  Response
Hi,

Thanks for writing to health care magic.

When a child has cough the following need to be monitored.

1. Respiratory rate.
2. Chest retractions.
3. Abnormal sounds produced like stridor.
4. Feeding.
5. Vomiting
6. Lethargy

If your child develops rapid breathing or any of the above problems you may need to consult your doctor at the earliest possible.

Hope this helps.
Take care.

Pediatrician Dr. E Venkata Ramana's  Response
Hi,

Thank you for your query on Healthcare Magic.

It seems your child is having cough may be due to a virus causing an episode of upper respiratory tract infection.

Mucolytic agens like ambroxol drops can be started orally to decrease the cough in the prescribed dose by the Pediatrician.

But physical examination of the throat and lungs is required to see for the focus of infection.

Threfore consult the Pediatrician before giving any medication.

Hope I have answered your query.

Regards.
