My 10yr old daughter suffers with headaches , but also has pins and needles in her r side of face, arm and leg. she has also suffered with numbness in these places. she had a mri scan on her head back in march of 2012 which was clear but her headaches have increased in frequency. She has had a few episodes of slurring. She does suffer from absent siezures but this is not connected with headaches.

Thank you for posting your query.

Probably, your daughter has childhood onset migraines. Numbness and paresthesia could be related to headaches or due to partial sensory seizures.

Since MRI brain is normal, there is no need to worry. If EEG has not been done, please get it done.

The best drug in her case would be sodium valproate or divalproex, as they would prevent both migraine headaches and partial seizures (as well as absence seizures).

Best wishes,
