10 Month Old Having High Fever And Swollen Throat, Prescribed Crocin, Augmentin. Fever Not Subsiding. What To Do ?
hi, my daughter is 10 month old and she is suffering from high fever (100 deg F to 101.8 deg F) and swollen throat .. this is since last 2-3 days .. pediatrician recommended to give crocin syrup (125 mg/5ml) and maftal - p alternatively in 4-6 hrs , and also augmentin syrup (3 ml twice a day) .. but the fever comes back once the medicine effect is over and is not subsiding . what do we do now ?
Good that you have shown your kid to your Pediatrician.
For fever, the above medicines are enough. Give crocin every 6 hrs and meftal only when needed. Do not give the medicines in more than the recommended frequency. It might cause more harm than good.
Give sponging with tap water if there is no shivering.
Give her plenty of fluids.
It might just be a viral fever, which will take a minimum of 4 to 5 days to settle down.
Just keep a watch on the activity and food intake of your kid. If both are okay, you need not panic.
Wait for the antibiotic course to be over. If fever continues even after that, you might have to see your doctor again for some basic blood tests.
Hope my answer helps you.
Wish a speedy recovery for your kid.
