Question: hi Doctor, while playing cricket today ball hit so hard on my last finger's tip. I was able to continue managing the game. but it looks as if something inside got bent and came some of it out. it's paining a bit and much when we try to touch it. looks like some swelling is also there. can you please help me on my kind of treatment should I go through to get fixed?

Brief Answer:
Could be mallet finger.

Detailed Answer:
Hi I am Dr Gopal Goel Orthopedic Surgeon.
I have read the details and in my opinion the injury you have described is probably a mallet finger. I e injury to tendon or bony chip from last part of finger.
I recommend x Ray's of the finger ASAP and splintage in proper position to be given by orthopedic surgeon.
Rarely it may require surgery.
Thanks for the question. please feel free to ask any other question.
