Generally, a liver cyst is not concerning and need observation. However, when the cyst is large, doctors may perform aspiration of the cyst through ultrasound guide probe/needle. The contents of the aspirate would be studied under a microscope which will allow his doctors to understand the cause and future treatment of the cyst.

Hi,

I went through your reports with diligence. As far as life is concerned, you have a few cysts and the largest was this - 5.6 x 5.2 one. This one is not that large and if you have symptoms, your doctor might choose to just observe the cyst for further changes. He/she may call you for a repeat scan to see for changes.

That being said, the cause of cysts can only be determined after studying samples of aspirate. Your treating doctor can decide when to perform aspiration (ultrasound guided).
