Question: hello doctor,
This is Namarata from XXXXXXX Uk , last wednesday i had the upper right side of the teeth cleaned by the dentist , even before that couple of days ago i had a small ulcer like in the place where the pharynx and tonsils and the soft palate meets . I showed it to the dentist when i went to the clinic and she said that it was just normal thing when hot or spicy food burns up that place she said it will go after a couple of days . after that she did the cleaning post which i was concentrating only on the gums and doing salt water gargling and all . yesterday evening i started experiencing dryness and burning sensation in throat ...sometimes tingliness and i thought i would do salt water gargling and when i did it burns ( the upper throat more near the uvula area) . the water was not very hot just warm but i do put a little extra salt always could taht be the reason ? I am so scared of herpes doctor that i have taken multiple tests of igg for both the types and its negative . that is one of the primary reasons i do not go to the dentist as i feel they would not use sterlise instruments . this dentist where i went ensured that they take these things seriously and showed me their cross infection control measures but still on that day i mean last wednesday the scaling tip whcih is used to clean the tip was not opened from the pouch in front of me .... or atleast i did not see it .... when i saw all that i could see was the dentist putting the attachment onto the machine so i am very much scared.
1) why does it burns when i do salt water gargling
2) i am experiencing upper stomach pain ( more like a pressing , burning sensation pain ) i get these kind of pain when i am in too much anxiety .... can this be a reason
3) i am taking only curd rice for the past five days so no spice food there
4) i have tried taking pics as far as i could stretch my mouth
5)please help me i am so petrified .

Mucositis

Hi,

Salty water can cause pain if there are ulcerative lesions.
The burning sensation and pain in stomach is probably due to gastric acid reflux disease.
I have seen the pictures attached. Please get a picture clicked while saying aaaaa and just focus on the oral cavity. Depress your tongue with a spoon.
Any history of regurgitation or burning sensation in the throat or indigestion?
Any history of constipation?

Brief Answer:
Mucositis with gastritis

Detailed Answer:
Hi
Thanks for the information.
The pain abdomen is probably due to either gastritis or some other abdominal infection.
You should get an ultrasound abdomen done.
All the symptoms mentioned by you doesn't point towards herpes at all.
There are no lesions suggestive of herpes in the oral cavity too.
Take an antacid regularly and avoid spicy food and aerated drinks.
Drink plenty of water.
Apply candid mouth paint to the oral mucosa and don't spit for sometime. Do it 4 to 5 times a day for a week.
Any further questions are always welcome.
Take care
Thanks and regards
