Question: hello doctor. I am writing because of my 3 month and 20 days baby girl. Today I visited her to the peditrian and I have a query regarding her weight. I am exclusively breastfeeding and her weight is 6500 kg and she is 65 cm tall. Her born weight was 3660 kg and the pediatrian said that with her born weight now she would have 7200 kg. At this point I am askung if I should begin giving her also artificial milk or should I continue only breastfeeding? If so, how long? Thank you

Brief Answer:
Continue exclusive breast feeding please

Detailed Answer:
Hi...I beg to differ from your pediatrician.
Actually your daughter is doing extremely well.
An infant should double the birth weight by 5 months of age and not by 3.5 months.

Another important point is that new born babies tend to lose 10% of body weight by 10 days then again gain it.

So even by this calculation your baby has gained 29g per day. According to international guidelines any baby gaining 25-30g per day is perfect.

So I suggest you continue only exclusive breast feeding.

I wish your kid a bright future. If you need any future medical consultation and suggestions, I will be glad to help. You can approach me at the following link.
