What Can I Do About Potential Kidney Damage After Taking Two Tylenol Pills?
Question: am 32 years old.i had recently b12 and d vitamin defeciency. And went for full body check up. In ultra sound scan it mentioned grade 1 fatty liver & kidneys size normal with increased cortical pattern and collecting sustem appear normal. All by blood reports are normal. My doctor said no need to worry about my kidneys.
Creatinine is (0.9 mg/dl)
Clear urine samples(No protein trace)
Blood Urea (16 mg/dl)
Random blood sugar (109)
Sgot/Ast (19)
BP (120 /80 & 130 /83) as per those two days readings.
B12 (130)
D vitamin (15)
But after My tests....in the evening I had a little alcohol and then after 1.5 hrs I took 2 tylenol tablets (500 mg each) as a normal dose for body pains and head ache. But I never used any pain killers and tylenol before. Also I rarely take alcohol. Next day I read one article in Google that it will cause kidney damage 123 %. I am extremely worries now if I damaged my kidneys due my mistake which I never did. This happened 2 months back.
So kindly advice if I need to test again. Does my mistake cause any damage to kidney.

Brief Answer:
no problem for the kidneys
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
I've read your text carefully and I can reassure you that there is no danger for your kidneys by taking 1gr of tylenol with alcohol. Actually the combination cannot be harmful for the kidneys. In excessive alcohol use (or abuse) with concurrent tylenol intake (higher doses though) some concerns about the liver might have been raised. This is not at all your case though, so please don't worry! There is no need to test again and don't believe everything that you read on the internet!
Kind regards!

Hello Doctor.
Good Morning. Thank you very much. Also sorry for bothering you with my doubts.
Also I would like to know that when I went for annual check up due to this vitamin difficiency issue. In ultra sound they mentioned increased cortical echo pattern for kidneys. All My creatinine, urea, uric acid levels, urine reports are normal. So my doubt wrt to ultrasound that...does my kidneys are having any abnormalities. The size and every thing is normal. Is it a temeperary condition or permanent. My doctor only asked me to drink enough water. And I don't have diabetes or blood pressure. Please advise.
Thank you.
Best Regards

Brief Answer:
normal tests, no symptoms, no concerns...
Detailed Answer:
You're welcome!
The increased cortical pattern in your ultrasound scan is indeed associated with kidney disorders. Despite that normal indices in the blood and urine tests exclude such disorders. Unless the radiologist specifically noted increased calcium deposition in your kidneys, I wouldn't think of any disorder without abnormal creatinine or urinalysis. Comparison with older studies (and future studies) may be helpful sometimes...
I'm not an expert on ultrasound scan but I don't believe that this finding can be considered the most important one when other tests are negative. Glumerulonephritides for example require an abnormal urinalysis (among other findings).
I hope it helps!
Take care!
