Question: For 2 days I have been having off and on twinging cramping pain in my right side that starts after I begin eating. Today the pain starts, I belch and the pain stops. I don’t have a fever or pain anywhere else. I am 59 yr old female with my gallbladder and appendix. Week before last I had severe pain that began in my upper stomach from 1-5:30 a.m. the pain moved lower through my abdomen until I had diaherrea at 5:30 a.m. and the pain stopped.

Brief Answer:
It sounds like gastroenteritis or gallstones.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

What you describe sounds like either a case of the stomach flu, or gallstones. Is the pain located in the upper or lower part of your right side? Is the pain constant or intermittent?
Thanks.

The pain is intermittent and can go for a while without hurting. It temporarily resolved when I belch. The pain is on the right side, not the front, more in my side midway. Not really upper or lower

Hi,

I recommend an ultrasound of your abdomen on the suspicion of gallstones.
