Will Mild Dry Cough Affect The Growth And Development Of Fetus?
Question: Hi Doctor I am 12 weeks pregnant, have been having dry cough and took home remedies like warm water with ginger and garlic, fresh lemon. But its been four week and I am not getting better. I have been suffering from chronic sinus before pregnancy. I have been using allergy tablets then but stop immediately when I found out I am pregnant.
Is this flu going to affect my baby. I dont have any high temperature , just the cough that wont go away?
I am worried about the baby.

The mild dry cough or the sinus infection will not affect the growth and development of your baby.
The nasal spray and sinupret tablets that you are using are safe now. You can use them on as and when required basis.
In case there is sputum production with cough, considerable pain in the throat, high grade fever or the symptoms persist for more than 4-5 days then do consult your physician for a local physical examination of your throat to rule out any bacterial infection. Antibiotic treatment may be needed in such a case.
