Question: Hi… I am a 43-year-old who was born male but often mentally identify as female ... I would not say that I have micropenis , but it is below average (approx 4" erect) I have gender identity issues that I just started therapy about. What I was wondering about was whether or not hormonal blood testing would be able to give me any insight

Brief Answer:
Yes. It will help.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for trusting us with your health concern.
The hormonal testing will definitely help in ruling out hypogonadism that often causes gender identity issues.
You need to get your hormonal levels like serum testosterone, FSH, DHEA and estradiol levels tested. You can consult an endocrinologist for a further testing in detail. A penis 4'' erect cannot be considered as a micropenis. It can be a normal physiological variation.
You may need psychotherapy and further counselling depending on the hormonal results.
Please feel free to discuss further. I will be glad to answer the follow up queries that you have.
Wishing you good health.
Regards.
