Brief Answer:
Not detectable in urine drug screens

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for contacting HCM with your health care concerns

You are currently taking Chantix and fenofibrate and you are concerned that these drugs may cause a dirty urine drug screen. The answer is that neither drug should be of concern. The Chantix is a drug that has no abusable potential and will not be screened on a urine. The fenofibrate is a medication for lowering blood triglyceride levels and also is not screened for in urine drug screens.

If by a remote chance that your urine does show positivity you could demand for a confirmatory test. This is where they take the urine and actually determine what the drug was that triggered the urine. These are more expensive tests but it is your right to demand for the confirmation test.

I am only concerned because i read that both meds can cause a false positve. In fact I saw a study that fenofibrate showed a very high false positive rate along with chantex. So you are telling me these studies are not correct?

Brief Answer:
Low rates of false positives

Detailed Answer:
The chance of a false positive is there with almost any drug including Chantix and tricor. If you do have a positive screen then demand to have a confirmatory test. A screening test is only that a screening test. A good screening test will find everyone that has thing your are screening for but it will also find those who don't After the screening test then you MUST confirm the screening with the confirmatory test. In your case have them check for the drug that was positive. You have that right and if the facility says differently then go higher up the chain. In a good screening test there will ALWAYS be false positives.

Your chance is low for a false positive and you should cross that bridge only if you need to.
