Question: i had a fistual operation done six months ago it has a very good pulse but when they tried dialysis yesterday they said it seemed like it didnt want to hold up under the machines pressure was that the results of the way the nurse did it or does the fistula need to be repaired also is a neck fistula dangerous

Hi,

Thanks for writing to HCM.

Some fistuls dont mature properly after their creation and so fail to withstand the machine pressure. They need repair or you can opt to close it and get a new one at other site.

The nurse has nothing to do with that.

All fistulas are equally dangerous, and work the same, whether its your neck, wrist, elbow or leg.
