Why Do I Get This New Moles On My Face Suddenly?
Question: I recently went to the dermatologist for a check up
I has a small mole suddenly;y appear on my face about four months ago
He checked me over and said everything looked good except for the mld that appeared he took a biopsy and sent it to the lab to0 check for melanoma
How concerned should I be?

Well, melanoma is a serious skin condition.It is a malign tumor of the skin but if it is diagnosed early and treated properly, it is almost always curable.
Areas of the skin that are exposed to sun are the most affected areas like the skin in face,arms ,hands,back etc.
Since this mole has appeared suddenly 4 months ago ,biopsy was necessary to exclude melanoma.
It is possible that it is just a common benign mole but just to be on the safe side melanoma should be excluded first.
Some features of the mole might be suggestive for malignancy :
-if the mole has increase in size and changed color since it appeared.
-if the mole has irregular borders,irregular shape , the color is not uniform,it might be more pigmented in a spot.
There are some other features that can be seen only with a dermatoscope by a dermatologist.
Despite these features on physical examination that can help raise the suspect of melanoma ,the only way to determine the diagnosis or to exclude it definitely is the biopsy.
Since there is nothing you can do right now, try not to stress out and just wait the result of the biopsy.
The good think here is that the mole appeared only 4 months ago and if in the worst case it is melanoma, it is detected early and can be totally curable.
