Question: White spot on the skin. Is there any known cure to white skin spots. I know it's due to lack of melanin in certain areas of the skin but is there no known way to make the situation uniform color throughout?

Brief Answer:
Regarding white spots ??vitiligo

Detailed Answer:
Hello and welcome to ask a doctor service. I have gone through your query and noted your concern.

If you are talking about vitiligo- which is complete loss of pigment, there are various treatment modalities, including topical and systemic. Topical therapies may be either used alone if there are just a few spots or they may be combined with systemic therapy, for widespread involvement. Topical steroid, tacrolimus, PUVASol are most common topical therapies. Whereas Oral steroids, phototherapy are commonly used systemic therapies for widespread vitiligo. These are prescription medication and one is advised to use them under supervision and guidance of a doctor.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if you need any more assistance.
