Glipizide is a drug which cause increase secretion of insulin from pancreas. It can cause hypoglycemia and other side effect is weight gain.
The advantage is that it is cheap and very potent.
Where as, Januvia is weight neutral and even may help to reduce weight. It is an add on drug to metfotmin and in combination helps to control glucose . It is costly and not as potent like Glipizide.
