Which One Of Fragmin And Coumadin Is Good For Pulmonary Embolism?

Question: After a fall with a broken ankle, the cancer center noted that I have a pulmonary embolism. I was prescribed daily of injections of Fragmin that seem to be bleeding excessively now that I am in the 2nd week. My internist is switching me from fragmin to coumadin. He noted the issue with Vit K and green vegetables, also noted that one of my meds had acetaminophen and it should be avoided, After reading the information about interactions, it appears that inderal has a moderate risk. With the long weekend, I do not know if I should atop the inderal abruptly or wait.

I do understand your worries about the possible drug interactions and more so because you have not had the best of experiences with the fragmin injections. Inderal and coumadins is not a terrible combination if taken together should your physician see the need for this. I will not recommend that you stop this medication right now. There is no urgent need for this.

In all, do not stop this medication right now as there is no major drug interaction between them. However, mention this to your doctor when chanced to get his take about this also.
