What The Symptoms Of Uterine Cancer?

default
Posted on Sat, 25 Apr 2015
Question: Hello.
I am 57 and 5 years postmenopausal, on estrodial patch and progesterone pills X 7 days per month, for bad hot flashes. Both obese and have diabetes.
A recent ultrasound found no growths and a small amount of fluid in the endometrial canal. I have had light bleeding X 6 days in past 2 months. I had a pap which came back fine within past three months
The soonest GYN appt is 1 month out. Should I either stop taking the hormones, which will be very uncomfortable due to large increase in flashes and or try to get a sooner appt at the GYN. GYN DOES not know test results which I just received from my PC.
Thank you for any info!

Brief Answer:
get uterine curretage.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

I can understand your concerns.

1) Please tell me the pap results. Were they normal?

2) Your history of diabetes, obesity and post menopausal bleeding warrants you to see a gynecologist soon (as these are high risks for uterine cancer). This is because you will need an uterine wall curettage to confirm findings and cause of bleeding. Please try to get an earlier date. At least let him know the results.

3) If symptoms are not tolerable you can continue with progesterone till you get tested your endometrium for any cancer changes. All the more reason to get an earlier date.

4) What was the endometrium thickness (ET) value given in your latest ultrasound report. I know Report did not say thickening of uterine wall but i want the exact value, if possible.

50 the small amount of fluid can be blood or infection too. Do you have any white discharge?

No ET value given.
Pap test was normal.
I do not have any discharge.
Thank you I will try to move up my appointment.
You said I can continue the progesterone, but nothing about estrogen patch. The e-patch is what brings my relief from hot flashes but I will discontinue it if it would be best to do so.
If I should get off patch, should I cut it all at once or go to lower patch/ cut my patch in half or how to most comfortably come off from it.
Thank you so much for your time, and response to me.
Have a good day

Brief Answer:
Please use only progesterone.

Detailed Answer:
Hi again

Estrogen increases cancer in case you have it. Please use only progesterone.

You can stop estrogen abruptly also. No need to taper.
