default
Posted on Mon, 3 Aug 2015
Question: What would cause two oval masses to show up in my bicep, on an isotope bone scan? They were only on my right arm and the tech would not tell me amything. They clearly stood out as abnormal.

Brief Answer:
this may not indicate any pathology

Detailed Answer:
Hi and welcome.
Isotope bone scan is very sensitive for bone lesions but it is nonspecific for soft tissue such as muscles. It may show lot of false positive results. So in most cases this means nothing especially if you dont have any symptoms. In other cases it may be sign of previous partial muscle ruptured, calcifications, miozitis or some lesions such as mioma, fibroma or a cyst. Lymph nodes is possible cause as well,it may be a reaction to any infection in your body. You should do MRi scan of muscle to clear this out. Wish you good health. Regards
