Brief Answer:
Taxim O and fucidin are to control any skin infection and prevent hair fall

Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXX
Thanks for writing back with an update.

FUCIDIN ointment contains Fusidic acid which is an antibiotic preparation to be applied on the skin where there is possibility of infection.

It is not that the skull gets infected. Only the upper layer of skin where the hairs are transplanted might get infected in a small number of patients.

It is possible that the transplant hairs are falling out due to some mild infection and she wants you to take precautions by taking oral antibiotics Taxim O and apply Fucidin ointment to treat any infection of the skin in scalp area.

Hope your query is answered.

Brief Answer:
Hairs will fall from 2 to 5 weeks and grow back stronger in few months

Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXX
Thanks for writing back with an update.

Your concern is understandable and I would like to clarify certain points.
1. The hair might start falling anytime 2 to 5 weeks after hair transplant surgery. This is called shock loss and is expected. It happens as the scalp undergoes surgical trauma. Eventually good amount of hair will start growin and might take some months.

2. Infection is less likely with surgical methods followed these days. However the patient is asked not to scratch the scalp and transplanted area of hairs. This can cause infections. The signs of infection are pus formation, swelling, itching and redness. Please take medications as prescribed and this will help control any infection if it has started.

3. One must not wait for infection to happen and if there is any slight suspicion then the patient is asked to take antibiotics as your doctors have told you. That way your doctors have done the right thing in giving you Taxim O and fucidin.

4. Please visit your doctor regularly to make sure that the hair transplant is going on well. In the beginning it is wise to consult your doctors regularly and inform them if you feel there is any sign of infection like itching, pus discharge, bleeding or pain.

Wishing you quick recovery and positive results for hair transplantation surgery.

Hope your query is answered.
Do write back if you have any doubts.

Dr.Vivek
