What Is The Possibility Of Passing Dyslexia To The Progeny?
Question: Patient is an adult female with word processing dyslexia. She has expressed that her mother's side of the family has shown evidence of dyslexia as well. Would you classify her as an: Autosomal Dominant or as a Autosomal Recessive? What is the percentile probability that either of her 3 sons can/would be predisposed with the same deficiency?

Boys are more likely to be affected than girls. Current research suggests that if either a father or a mother is dyslexic (irrespective of inheritance pattern) their sons have approximately a 75% of being dyslexic, whilst girls will have a 25% chance. Therefore it is by no means certain that all her children and especially all 3 sons - shall be dyslexic.According to me this a chance probability being high in male child.
In percentile/probability it means 3 out of ever 4 sons and 1 out of every 4 daughters.
