What Is The Optimum Advisable Dosage Of Suprep Prep Kit Before A Colonoscopy?

Question: Hi, I'm a 20 year old female scheduled to have an endoscopy+colonoscopy in 2 days. I've been told to use the Suprep Prep Kit which requires me to drink the 6 oz solution with 10 additional ounces of water (16 oz total), and then drink 32 oz of water within an hour (to be repeated 4 hours later at 9 pm). I'm worried about: 1) whether I will need as much of the laxative as I'm really, really underweight (BMI=15, 5'7" and 96 lbs) and 2) whether it is safe to consume more than 3-4 cups (8 o.z.) of water within an hour. Under this procedure I would be drinking 48 oz. but I learned that the kidney cannot process more than 3-4 cups an hour? I guess overall I'm wondering if I will need the "standard" dose even though I am an adult but just not that heavy.

Hi,

Most of the consumed liquids and laxative would be excreted as watery stool. This will cleanse the intestines to allow for easy procedure. The liquids do not need to be fully absorbed into the body and as such the kidneys would not be handling this. Therefore, express no fears.

I will say, follow the prescription as dispensed. This is more to clean the intestines than to be absorbed for action within the body.
