What Is The Normal Size Of Testicles?

Question: Hello Doctor, what are the normal size testicles for a man? I was looking at my ultrasound result from a few years back. There was no serious finding thankfully, but I am concerned about the measurements indicated. It reads: left testicle is 4.5 x 2.5 x 3.0 (est volume 17.7) and the right is 4.0 x 2.4 x 3.0 (est volume 15.1). I read on the internet that the average size is about 5cm. Thank you for your help.

Brief Answer: Size of your Testicles is within normal range . Detailed Answer: Hello Thanks for your query,based on the facts that you have posted it appears that size of your both the testicles are within normal range. The size of the testicles varies from person to person and there is no fix criteria as regards size of the testicles. The normal size of testicle is 5cmx2cmx3cm (with volume variable from 12 cm.to 30cm.) Variation of 0.5 to 1 cm in size is accepted to be normal . It is the function of the testicles Spermatogenesis and production of Testosterone that is more significant than the size of the testis. Thank you, Doctor. I do appreciate your detailed response and kind reassurance. If I may ask, do you think finasteride has any permanent negative effects on the testicles? I do not have any children presently, but someday would very much like to. Is there any reason why a man on finasteride can't father a child once the drug is discontinued for a safe period of time? Many thanks to you!

Brief Answer: Finasteride has svere side effects. Detailed Answer: Hello Thanks for follow up.Finasteride has serious side effects like loss of sexual desire,erectile dysfunction ,abnormal ejaculation etc and in some cases these side effects do continue even after discontinuation of Finasteride.
