Brief Answer:
At one time you can take 100 mg.

Detailed Answer:
Hi

Greetings from Dr Divakara P
Thanks for posting your query.

The maximum dose of tramadol is 400mg per in people less than 75 years of age. But you cannot take it all of a sudden on a day. What I mean to say is if your pain is not relieved with 2 tablets of tramadol you can increase it to 3 tablets per day and see the effect. That will be a total of 150mg per day .

If no improvement is seen then you can increase 50mg more after 5-7 days. You can do this till you achieve the maximum dose of tramadol.

But I would recommend you do this in consultation with your treating doctor as during escalation of dose the chances of side effects also increases.

Hope thus information was useful to you.
Any clarification feel free to ask.

Regards.

I understand. I am in remission after Breat Cancer. I was reading that if you take an anti depressant, tramodol can have side effects. I have been C free for 3 yrs, but because I had to quit my HRT, i do take 37.5 mg of Effexor daily. Is this a concern?

Brief Answer:
Chance of side effects can increases if taken together.

Detailed Answer:
Hi

Some of the side effects of Effexor like dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth, nausea and constipation are also seen in Tramadol. So increasing the dose of tramadol while on Effexor can increase the chances of the above mentioned side effects.

But since these side effects are not serious ones you can still increase the dose of tramadol in small amounts like 25 mg gradually.

If in case you develop side effects that is bothering you then you can go back to the previous dose and add another group of pain medicine like NSAIDs. Kindly do this in consultation with your treating doctor.

Hope this information was useful to you.

Any clarification feel free to ask.

Regards.
