What Is The Life Expectancy Of A Person With Pneumonia, MRSA Infection And Alcohol Addiction?
Question: My fiancé is 67 years old and has always been a heavy drinker, he collapsed on he street on November 6, 2014 while in England. He was in the hospital for 4 months and was not expected to live as he contracted noriovirus and had 2 different bouts with pneumonia. He also had Mersa at one point. he had tubes everywhere and was out of it most of the time. He transferred to a physio therapy type hospital in March and was released to me on April l0th. on April 11th he started drinking red wine and everyone was appalled, he now is back to about 6 to 8 glasses of wine every day. He does not want to stop, and I can not force him. what can I expect going forward ?? his brother XXXXXXX the Dr. told him he will die within 3 months. Is this true??

MRSA, pneumonia, XXXXXXX agent.... all of them alone or in combination .. do not generally cause long term liver involvement. 6 or more glasses of wine a day, however, certainly could.
You'll also want to check iron level (ferritin) classically it builds up with red wine and can also be liver toxic, as can chronic hepatitis (which should be checked for).
Then... there's three classes of liver disease called the Child's classification. Not sure if even the most severe comes with a 3 month life expectancy, but certainly short of being on the transplant list, you couldn't estimate a life expectancy.

Yeah, several signs of problem drinking include quantity more than 10 drinks a week, having family issues due to it, being told to cut down... but these are not the same as health effects from it.
