Prognosis of IPF depends on many factors.

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for your question on Health Care Magic.
I can understand your concern.
Prognosis and life expectancy in IPF depends on many factors. These factors are
1. Smoking history.
2. Previous history of lung diseases, history or IPF in family.
3. Present symptoms like breathlessness, cough, pedal edema etc.
4. Pulmonary Function Test (PFT) with lung capacity and DLCO results.
5. Areas of involved lung, means whole lung or part of lung on CT scan.
6. Associated Co morbid conditions like diabetes, hypertension, dyslipidemia etc.
In general, early IPF (interstitial Pulmonary fibrosis) is having life expectancy of 5-7 years.
While end stage IPF is having life expectancy of 1-2 years.
So please reply me above details, so that I can guide you properly about life expectancy in your case.
I will be happy to help you further.
Wish you good health. Thanks.
