What Is The Incubation Period For HPV Warts

default
Posted on Wed, 18 May 2016
Question: Hi i had condom protected oral sex performed on me 2 years ago and condom protected hand job performed on me 10 months ago. These events were performed on me by a stripper(sex worker). I have tested negative for stds. I am worried about hpv and Hpv wart formation. Was I at risk? What is the incubation period for hpv warts? Could I have passed hpv onto my wife from these exposures.
Thank you

Brief Answer:
Chances of HPV transmission by these acts is nil.

Detailed Answer:
Hi
Thank you for query. I am Dr Bharatesh D Basti answering your query.
Welcome to health care magic.

Hpv is transmitted by skin to skin contact or by intercourse .The chances are higher when there are active lesions in the area of contact. You would have noticed it if she had any active lesions.
Moreover both acts are protected .The chances with protected oral or hand job is nil.

The incubation period varies from days to months.
By 2 year it should have manifested .So the chances of transmission of HPV by these acts is nil.

You can get back for any clarification.

Thank you. Is there any risk of acquiring the hpv types that are high risk for cervical cancer and passing this onto my wife?
If my wife were to have a positive pap smear would it be the result of these 2 exposures?

Hi
Thank you for follow up query.

The chances of transmission of HPV high risk types is also nil.
I do not see the possibility of transmission of HPV by these episodes.Hence transmission of this to your wife does not arise.

Thank you. So no risk of developing warts at this point in time? With oral sex could they develop on the scrotum if there was no contact with the scrotum? If oral fluids were to end up on the scrotum, ie dripping down, does this present a risk for acquiring Hpv or does it need to be massaged in? Is there a correlation between having genital hpv and oral warts? You mention that the person performing oral sex would have to have oral warts to pass it on, so if no wart then it can't be passed on?

Hi

Yes the chances of warts is nil.
Skin is an effective barrier .Scrotal skin is effective too.Oral lesions should be present for transmission. There are no lesions as per history.
Moreover protected act,so no chance.
Allay fears.

Thank you. So for summary. I had no risk, 0 chance 100%,guarantee of acquiring Hpv or hpv warts from these events? I am outside the window of acquiring Hpv warts by this time I have heard that they could develop years later is that true or what is the maximum time frame?
Finally, 100%,certainty that I have not passed hpv to my wife and that any positive pap smear would not be due to these 2 event

Brief Answer:
Not due to these episodes.

Detailed Answer:
Hi
Thank you for follow up query.
It is sure that these episodes mentioned have not transmitted HPV either warts or other strains.
So pap smear positivity is not due to these episodes.
The incubation period varies for days to months to years. The maximum time frame cannot be defined.

Ok thank you. So from my 2 exposures no risk of hpv or hpv warts and I cannot pass hpv to my wife from these events and any positive pap results would not be due to these events? Am I correct in this?

Thank you. As part of my of fear and anxiety, 5 months I shaved my pubic area to check for hpv warts. I see no visible warts. When I let the hairs grow back in 2-3 weeks I experience localized burning/irritation on my scrotum. After 4 weeks I shaved again and the irritation went away. I again let it grow back and began experiencing the same sensation. I have tried creams for relief. The sensation is more intense when I am walking and wearing underwear. Any possibility that this could be related to hpv/hpv warts? If not how long before such a sensation can subside as the hairs grow? Finally would hpv warts be easy to notice on exam?
doctor
Answered by Dr. Bharatesh Devendra Basti (1 hour later)
Brief Answer:
Not due to warts.

Detailed Answer:
Hi
Thank you for follow up query.

The sensation may be due to dryness or folliculitis. It will subside by 1-2 week of shaving .
It is very unlikely due to warts.Warts would have been visible by now.
Wear loose cotton inner wears.
Avoid friction or irritation.

It is not due to warts.
