Brief Answer:
absolutely fine

Detailed Answer:

Thanks for writing to health care magic.

Babies tend to triple their birth weight before one year of age.

Usually the growth is very rapid with fast weight gain in the first 6 months of life. The next 6 months babies show a slow increase in weight which is normal.

Plot the weight in growth chart ( your vaccine file should have one ) and see if the baby is growing along the curve. If there is flattening or dip it needs intervention.

As long as the baby is active and playful, do not worry.

Get giving all kinds of home foods in soft consistency.

A spoonful of ghee or oil to each feed will improve the calories.

Wishing your baby good health

My 4 year old daughter complains of being hot all of the time. She s always been warmer bodied than other people since she was an infant. She s very small for her age(below the growth chart ) & has been seen by genetics & endocrine to rule out any growth problems. All tests have come back WNL. My husband & I are also very short. The endocrinologist asked if she c/o being hot & at the time it was only occasionally. Lately, it s been 3-4times a week. What does this mean?

Hi doctor
I have a 14 months old daughter, she was born with an average weigth (3.375kg) and continued gaining some healthy weight until she's about 4 months and her weight was always around 50% according to the infant groth chart published by NSW Health (the blue book). However from 4 months to 6 months her growth slowed down and at 9 months her weight percentile dropped to 25%. during 6months to 9 months period, she hardly put on any weight. I have taken her to see GPs and Peaditricians (without having any tests), they think she's developing normally , the only reason she went through a period without growing is bcs she inhered the smal genes from me. (I'm about 158cm tall and 49kg weight), but i have friends who are about similar size as me but their babies never had any weight gaining problems and their babies are much bigger than my daughter althought they are at similar age.
My daughter now is 14 months, she eats, sleeps normally. She has three solida meals plus 400ml formula every day, she takes 2 naps during the day and around 2 hours for each nap, she sleeps from 8.30pm to 6.30am every night without waking up, and she just started walking last Friday. she weights 9.1kg, and is about 76cm tall. she's a happy and content baby most of the time, but she doesn't have that healthy 'glore' on her face as other babies.

Here are some of the questions that have been bothered me for a while now, just wondering if any of your could help me:
- should i get her checked to see if she is lack of any nutritions which could affect her growth
- i think between 6months to 9 months, she did not take enough milk which could be the cause of her slow growth. If that's the case, will that effect her health and development later on?
