Question: Dear Dr XXXXXXX


Thank you for your reply I was given antibiotics and am still completing coarse I am better but still suffering slightly !
Urine and blood test proved ok and the decision not to take further action decided !
I have always had problems emptying my bladder for a couple of decades but the conclusion with the GPs I have seen that it is probably due to my nature and that some prostates are different in size and efficiency !
Having now being diagnosed with diabetes the likely hood of infections increase !
Any advice on this predicament would be welcome !

It is true that diabetes can affect immunity, it can affect your body's response to infection.

This is mainly if the blood sugars are not controlled. If you are able to control your readings then you would be able to avoid this and other complications. Your immune system would be able to work as it should.

In addition, you may want to consider the use of cranberry juice occasionally since it has been shown to be helpful with the urinary tract in some persons.

Make sure you stay well hydrated and empty whenever possible as frequently as you can. This means that the urine cannot become stagnant and decreases the risk of infection

The use of vitamins and anti oxidants may also help to boost your immunity.
