What Is The Dosage Of Rabies Vaccination?

Question: Hello,
I have taken rabies vaccine Last year August 2015. Vaccine Name was VaxiRab.
on 3 December 2016 means few days Back A Dog again bitten me. I took Vaccine name AbhayRab on the 0day(3 December) and second Vaccine on 3rd day(6 december) Vaccine name AbhayRab.

How Many vaccines are needed now?
Have I taken suffient Doses?
I took VaxiRab vaccine last year but this year I took AbhayRab vaccine. will it make any difference? pls reply ASAP.....

Abhayrab 0,3,7,14 and 28th day post exposure.

Hi

Thank you for asking HCM.

I have gone through your query. Abhayrab is given in 0,3,7,14 and 28th day post exposure. So it is better to complete the dosage by taking vaccine on 7th 14th and 28th day. There is some difference in dosage on different vaccines. But all works same. So there is nothing to worry.

Now AbhayRab is not available in My current Area... Can I take VaxiRab or rabipur now??

I have already taken 5 vaxirab vaccines before 16 Months ago.... should I really need to follow the vaccination prodecure of 5 vaccines again?

I have read somewhere that if anyone previously immunized than person have to follow 2 days(0 days and 3rd days) vaccine schedule. I have read it on WHO website and its also mention on AbhayRab card...

Pls clarify it... thank you doctor...

If you have completed all 5 doses of vaccine last time then two doses are enough this time. In that case 0 and 3rd day is enough and no need to take the next ones. If you skipped at least one dose last time then you have to complete the whole 5 dose this time.

pls clarify few Things..

1). I took 2 vaccine of AbhayRab on zero and 3rd day.... can a person take VaxiRab or rabipur as their next doses if AbhayPur is not available?? will it work same? or not that effectice?

2). Pls tell me name of Brands like Abhaypur(PVRV) which is available in XXXXXXX easily....

Changing brands is not advised.

Changing brands is not preferred. However if the brand you used in previous dose is not available then you can go on with the other one. But the dosage should be adjusted accordingly. Because the does given in different brands can differ like 0.1 ml or 0.2 ml. But all the intradermal rabies vaccines work the same.
Rabipur is a readily available brand every where. Other ones are rabivac, imovax, verorab,TRC verorab,rabies vero. Rabipur is the brand which we use in government hospitals in XXXXXXX It is given free of cost in most government hospitals in XXXXXXX
