Question: Im suffering from depression im takimg quetiapine 200 mg in divided doses thrice a day,toficalm bd 100 mg,arpizol 10 mg at night,ciplar bd 40 mg I feel relax after taking quetiapine.How much I can increase its dose.Can I take 400 mg

Thanks for writing to us.

You are taking four medicines.Seeing these medicines I guess you have resistant or bipolar depression with anxiety features. Quetiepine can be given up to 800-1200 mg depending upon disorder severity and tolerance of the patient.
If you feel better with quetiepine but not 100% , you can increase the dose gradually by adding 25 mg every week.
The most significant drawbacks are sedation and weight gain. If you aware about these side effects and already modified your lifestyle to prevent weight gain,you can go up to 400 mg. And better to take SR preparation to avoid sedation.

How much mg of quetiapine SR should I take and how many times in a day.also pls tell instead of mirtaz can I take paxidep because mirtaz 15 mg is not working for me.i m feeling hypo and low energy.doctor can u tell me some another medicine for this.Thanks and Regards

Thanks for follow up.

Quetiapine Sr 100 mg 2 times a day. Add 25 mg plain quetiapine at night every week and from 4th week 100 mg sr 3 times a day.

Yes mirtaz 10 mg approximatley equal to Paroxetine sr12.5mg you can take.

To give opinion for changing medicines I need your detail history about the problem and medicines as below.

For depression: Onset,duration ,symptoms, any stressor, personal, past and family history, treatment consultation , any other physical illness

For medicines: Which medicines have been taken, which dose, for how much duration, effects, improvement and side effects with each medicine.
