Brief Answer: TREATMENT DETAILED. Detailed Answer: Hello Thanks for writing to us with your health concern. As antibiotics and cough syrup have already been prescribed, please wait for some more time. Pregnancy is a time when the immunity of the body is naturally compromised. Hence, women are prone to infections easily. Please boost her immunity by providing Vitamin C ( Celin, Limcee ) tablets once daily. Also, increase intake of amla, guava, oranges, mosambi. Meanwhile, let her take hot saline gargles atleast 5 - 6 times a day, it will help to clear the throat . Also, XXXXXXX or Honnitus lozenges can be taken 4 - 5 times daily. Steam inhalation also helps to clear respiratory passages. Sprinkling eucalyptus oil on the clothes and pillows while sleeping will help. Elevating the upper body and head by propping up with 2 - 3 pillows at night will help to relieve post nasal drip which worsens dry cough. Also, taking an antihistaminic like Diominic DA once daily is another option. Hot chicken broth and soup infused with ginger, tulsi , pepper should be taken. Avoid cold food. Eat fresh homemade steaming hot food . Take lots of fluids - water, soups, broths, kanji water , dal ka paani etc. The cough would subside in a few days time. She can continue taking cough syrup also for a few more days. Regarding recurrent UTI, it is common in pregnancy. Drinking lots of water and maintaining strict perineal hygiene will help. Avoid going outside and using public toilets. All the best. Please feel free to ask for further clarifications.
