What Is The Cause And Treatment For Muscular And Nerve Pain?

default
Posted on Tue, 4 Nov 2014
Question: Hi, I'm 27 years old and I have been suffering from muscular and nerve pain for the last 2 years. It has become more several in not able to do normal activities and has resulted in having to quit my job. I cannot lift my right arm and I have pain everywhere; including extreme back pain and in my shoulder and neck. I also have pain in my eye sockets when I move my eyes around. I had tried to get help at the beginning but my doctor wasn't much help. My pain and discomfort was blamed on depression. After going on medication to treat depression, I returned back to my doctor explaining that my body is not getting better. I went to a physiotherapist that said he couldn't help me because it's nerve related to my spine and needed x-rays. I had an MRI on my neck and shoulder which gave no results. I feel very scared and don't know what to do. I will try to go back to my doctor as I need to know what's going on because I can now not work! Can you give me any insight?

Detailed Answer:
Good evening

Thank you for writing on health care magic.

I have gone through your history.

I need to ask you a few questions before I can guide you further

1. Do you have any night pains..in the neck or back..

2. Do you have difficulty in turning position in the night

3. How about early morning stiffness...is it present

4. Any stressors in your life which are disturbing your sleeping routine.

5. If you could attach your blood reports? That would be helpful.

Do let me know these queries
I will be happy to guide you further. I wouldn't want to label you as depression till I rule out other causes.

Tc..
Regards.

Yes I have pains at night and am woken up because of movements during nighttime in my neck, back, and shoulder. I have horrible stiffness in my body when I wake up. No stressors outside of my physical condition is disturbing my routine. I have never had blood work done to help diagnosis. I will have to ask my doctor. At this point, I have trouble going up and down stairs, I feel it in my knees and hips. And I cannot take normal strides walking, my legs don't want to go far from my body. I feel it in my hips.

Brief Answer:
Is it Arthritis??

Detailed Answer:
Good evening

Considering your history, i dont want to relate your symptoms to depression or anything till i have ruled out the rest of the causes. Cause, what we practise, this is considered to be the diagnosis of exclusion.

What i will suggest is, to get some blood reports done which should include ESR and CRP. That would give us a fair idea if there is any inflammation going on or not. Also get your thyroid levels, CPK levels and ANA Checked..To complete the overall picture that we should not be missing anything

MRI of shoulders wont give you much valuable information. Considering your symptoms i would want to rule out SPONDYLOARTHOPATHY as a cause for it. MRI of the PELVIS would be a better option

But yes, dont worry. We will keep a step wise approach and help to sort out your problems. So you shouldnt be overloaded with unnecessary medications

Hope the information was useful

Do let me know for more queries. I would be happy to help you out
