Question: I have been diagnosed with having a ulcer and hernia. I have been given pantrapozale for the ulcer but nothing for the hernia and I also did notgetany reason for their causes or what precautions or diet I should take in future. Can you advise. I am 47years of age and suffered from heartburn for over 30 years before taking the tablets for the ulcer which results now in only occasional heartburn

Brief Answer:
Hernia needs surgery if symptomatic

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

welcome to HealthcareMagic.

I assume the hernia is the part of stomach coming into chest. Because there are many types of hernia which occur in body.

For this there are no drugs given. Usually it just cause heartburn. When hernia is causing breathing problem or abdominal discomfort then it is treated by surgery.

For your ulcer and this hernia the following precautions you should to take
-don't sleep immediately after having food. Walk for 15 mins.
- don't over eat . stop when you feel just stomach filled.
-avoid having alcohol, tea, coffee, spicy items, too much oily, chocolates carbonated drinks etc.
-avoid smoking
- if over weight then ,reduce weight.
- while sleeping see to it your head should be higher then the stomach , means keep a pillow always.

Hope I have answered your query. If any further queries are there I would love to help.
