What Is The Cause And Treatment For Common Cold Along With Bacterial Infection?

Question: I think I have a severe cold,but have never experienced some of these symptoms before. I am coughing up a lot of phlem and mucus,but it is also producing mucus in my eyes. Both my eyes are blood shot and red as a result. Is this signs of a bad cold or something worse?

You symptoms of cough, congestion, and redness of eyes, muscle aches, headache, decreased appetite are seen in common cold.
Do you have fever, muscle, joint pain, difficulty in breathing,headache?
If you are having cough with yellowish or greenish expectation it suggests bronchitis or secondary infection.
You must visit your healthcare provider and get examination of respiratory system.
Get sputum testing done for gram staining microscopy and culture sensitivity test for aerobic and anaerobic bacteria. If pathogenic microorganisms seen take antibiotics accordingly.

In meanwhile take steam inhalation, antihistamines like cetrizine, nasal decongestant, antipyretics if fever and cough suppressant.
Keep yourself warm, take bed rest and drink plenty of fuids.Gargle with water or chlorhexidine for one minute, three times a day.
Take paracetamol or ibuprofen to relieve if pain or fever. Do not smoke. Practice hand washing frequently. Avoid exposure to others.
