Brief Answer:
VDRL test is different from chlamydia

Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXX
Thanks for writing in to us.

I have read through your query in detail.
If you were tested for VDRL and result is negative then chlamydia can still be a possibility.

Around half of all men with chlamydia don't notice any symptoms. If men do get symptoms, the most common include:
pain when urinating
discharge from the tip of the penis (this can be a white, cloudy or watery discharge)
pain in the testicles

VDRL test panel is for syphilis and does not routinely test for Chlamydia and must be tested for separately. Chlamydia is treated with antibiotics. You may receive a one-time dose, or you may need to take the medication daily or multiple times a day for five to 10 days. Doxycycline is drug of choice for treating chlamydia infection.

Please feel free to correct any oversight in my interpretation of your problems and discuss them in detail as per your requirements.

Hope your query is answered.
Do write back if you have any doubts.

Brief Answer:
Please find details below

Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXX
Thanks for writing back with an update.

There are two possibilities.
1. The testing method applied was not sensitive to your infection as details of your testing method is not known to me and not every test is completely accurate.

2. The antibiotic you took might have killed the chlamydia. Even single dose of a powerful antibiotic is sufficient to cure the condition.

If you take complete treatment, it will be cured in most probability. Please do not worry.

If you know the test detail and want to discuss further then please attach your report to your query. However it is less likely that it was a false negative test if you took a single good antibiotic in panic.

Hope your query is answered.
Do write back if you have any doubts.

Hi XXXX
Thanks for writing back with an update.

I have seen through your report. It mentions optical immunoassay method of testing and there is a little possibility that the test result might be false negative. Ampicillin is not usually a medication given to treat chlamydia.

I can see that the urine culture done at that time shows no growth. I further suggest that you please get a repeat urine culture and sensitivity test done and also culture of the discharge if there is any. This will help in complete evaluation.

Also drink lots of water and fresh juices and visit washrooms regularly.

Hope your query is answered.

Ok last question can it be herpes ?
doctor
Answered by Dr. Vivek Chail (5 minutes later)
Brief Answer:
Herpes is least likely

Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXX
Thanks for writing back with an update.

In the commonly associated agents causing discharge from penis please find the rate of occurrence below

Chlamydia trachomatis (25 to 60 per cent).
Mycoplasma genitalium (up to 25 per cent).
Ureaplasma urealyticum (15 to 25 per cent).
Trichomonas vaginalis (17 per cent).
Herpes simplex (rarely).

It is clear that Herpes is the last possibility. Usually herpes appears with burning, itching and development of blisters in two weeks. Rarely can it cause a problem like the one you have.

Hope your query is answered.

Brief Answer:
Can be due to skin irritation

Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXX
Thanks for writing back with an update.

Small blisters of size 1 mm can happen due to skin irritation. Please keep a watch over that and it should disappear on its own. If there is a large number of blisters then visit your doctor and take an opinion and treatment with anti irritants.

Hi XXXX
Thanks for writing back with an update.

In herpes the blisters also cause itching and burning. You do not have these symptoms hence I did not consider herpes blisters.

I have finish all medication for chlamydia, an the symptoms including discharge and hurt when urinate on a scale 1-10 still is a 1.5 . What are your suggestion ?
doctor
Answered by Dr. Vivek Chail (1 hour later)
Brief Answer:
Please wait and watch for a week longer

Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXX
Thanks for writing back with an update.

We can wait and watch a week more for the symptoms to subside completely. Since it has come down to 1.5 presently, the medicine is surely working.

If it stays even through next week end then you might have to get investigated for persistent urethritis.

Hope your query is answered.
Do write back if you have any doubts.
