What Is The Cause And Treatment For Alopecia Areata?
Question: I am suffering from Alopacea areat for the last five years. I have tried several medicines including injections. sometime heals, but again reappearing after certain months. I am using XXXXXXX phone frequently. Kindly advice whether XXXXXXX radiation is the reason for non curing of Alopaceaa areata.

Is there any medicine for alopacea areata. What are the precautions to be taken to prevent appearing again. Some itching sensation also coming in the scalp. Whether I has to continue injection or any external ointment. Science has developed this much, still there is no effective medicines to cure this disorder? Without medicine, if I continue, whether it will cure automatically?

The treatment of alopecia areata depends on the number of patches and extent of involvement.
Intralesional steroid injections are useful in limited number of patches.
Immunomodulator cream like 0.1% Tacrolimus can be applied at bedtime.
2% Minoxidil also helps in combination with tretinoin and azelaic acid.
The prognosis of this disorder depends on several factors. If you have the risk factors that I have mentioned in my previous answer, the chances of recurrence of the patches in higher.
There are no specific precautions as such which you could take to prevent recurrence. Mental stress can worsen any auto-immune disorder in the body including alopecia areata. So, try to reduce stress by yoga/ meditation techniques.
If you have a single patch, there is 70% chance of hair regrowth without any treatment in 6 months time.
Yes, I agree with you that though science has developed so much,unfortunately, there are some medical disorders to which the cure is yet to be found. Alopecia areata is a frustrating problem, both to the doctor and to the patient as we have to keep trying different modes of treatment to get the best result.
