What Is A Chemical Stress Test?

default
Posted on Mon, 9 Feb 2015
Question: I had a chemical stress test and went to visit the Cardiologist. He said that it was obvious that I have had a heart attack in the past. He said that 22% of my heart was not working. It is on the left side. What does that mean? the treatment? I am to have a Cardio XXXXXXX but was not told to limit my activities. Should I?
Would the fact that they did not have me remove my bra for the stress test have anything to do with these results?

Brief Answer:
Dobutamine stress test

Detailed Answer:
Hello

Thanks for the query

Dobutamine stress test is the chemical test used to know the functioning of the heart. It is usually done in individuals who do not take the treadmill test.
It does not require removal of the bra if they have connected the ECG leads without removing it.
Coronary angigram is vital if the stress test is positive. I strongly recommend you go for the angiogram to rule out blocks in your artery. If there are blocks, it will require stenting of the arteries.

Stress test could have been altered if there were metals in your bra, like an underwire. But this change can be easily noticed and they would have made sure its done after removal of the bra.

I recommend that you avoid
1. Strenuous physical activities
2. Lifting heavy weights
3. Avoid travel ( until angio is done)
4. Avoid climbing more than 2 flights of stairs

I hope I was of help, if you have any further queries please get back to me
