What Is Flucloxacillin Dosage For Skin Infection?

Question: I have skin infection- absces-carbuncule doctor prescribed me Flucloxacillin 500 mg ,I made mistake and take 500 mg every 6 hours instead of 1000 mg every 6 h.can I start to take 1000 mg ?

Flucloxacillin is used in varying doses depending on the clinical situation and severity of infection. The dosage varies from 1g to 8g daily, in 4 divided doses.
So 500mg four times daily is not too low. But, if you were asked to take 1000mg, that dose is to be followed.

If you have just started taking, you can change to 1000mg and complete the course. Otherwise, if you have already taken more than half the duration prescribed, the course may need to be prolonged for few more days, as per your doctor's suggestion. This will be determined on the basis of clinical response.
