Brief Answer: Ecthyma Detailed Answer: Hello and welcome to healthcare magic I am Dr. kakkar. I have gone through your query and I have understood it. I would keep a possibility of Ecthyma. Ecthyma is an ulcerative pyoderma of the skin caused by bacteria such as Pseudomonas, Streptococcus pyogenes, and Staphylococcus aureus. Ecthyma extends into the dermis, it is often referred to as a deeper form of impetigo. Ecthyma lesion usually begins as a small blister or pustule on an inflamed area of skin. A hard crust soon covers this. The crust can be removed to reveal an indurated ulcer that may be red, swollen and oozing with pus. Lesions may gradually enlarge to a sore of 0.5-3 cm in diameter. Ecthyma has a predilection for children and elderly individuals I would advice a 'culture and sensitivity testing' from one of the lesions, which would determine the bacterial flora and also guide antibiotic therapy. Empirical Treatment can be started pending culture report: -A topical antibiotic ointment such as fusidic acid or mupirocin is often prescribed for localised ecthyma. -Oral antibiotics: The preferred antibiotic is a penicillin group of antibiotics (e.g Amoxycillin in combination with clavulanic acid OR Dicloxacillin). The duration of treatment varies; several weeks of therapy may be necessary to completely resolve ecthyma. hope this answers your query regards
