What Is Adderall Dosage Inspite Of Taking Vyvanse?

Question: I take Adderall 30mg 2x/day. My pdoc prescribed 20mg vyvanse to help with my second dose of Adderall crash at night. He said I should not take them at the same time, I did not receive clarification from him, does he mean I can't take the morning dose of Adderall with Vyvanse? Is there something I am missing?

Adderall consists of amphetamine and vyvanse consists of lisdexamfetamine. Both drugs produce dextroamphetamine as a metabolite in body, whose half life is 13-15 hours. In vyvnase, amount of dextraamphetamine is higher than adderall, so you need lesser dose of it as compared to adderall. Initially you were taking adderall 30 twice a day. To decrease the dose of adderall, your doctor has prescribed vyvanse at night. It would help to decrease the dose. Now you have to take one tablet of adderall 30mg in morning and one tablet of vyvanse at night. It would help to control the dose. In case, you need further clarification you can ask.
